We've Gone to the Dogs!

We admit it, we're dog crazy.

If you've been in our store you've probably met one of our Newfoundland Dogs who can frequently be found napping on the floor. With a house full of our own dogs plus we usually have a foster dog or two staying with us, we have lots of dogs testing out the toys we carry. We're always on the look-out for new products that are durable, fun and functional. Here's some of the new arrivals today:

Newf Rescue Calendars!

Finally, the 2009 Newf Friends Newf Rescue calendars are ready to go!

The calendars are the same style as we used last year for the Canadian Newf Rescue calendars - extra large 12 x 18, high quality, high gloss paper, metal spiral binding across the top and over 50 full colour images!

Most of you will recognize at least some of this year's gorgeous models who include Matilda, Marin, Darcy, Volare, Murphy, Mary, Neptune, Ozzy, Bower, Zoë, Caera, and of course, no Newf rescue calendar would be complete without everyone's favourite Basset hound, Floyd.

Calendars can be picked up in Bancroft, ON at West Wind or purchased ONLINE

All proceeds go directly to Newf Friends in Ontario, Canada to assist Newfoundland Dogs and Newf mixes in need. Newf Friends is a foster based Newfoundland Dog Rescue group working in partnership with the wonderful team of volunteers at HART

A Great Time for Everyone

Annabelle gives a cart ride to two Woof Walk participants

Saturday October 4th was HART's Woof Walk at millennium park. We were there to show our support and to provide some fun for all of the participants. As a HART volunteer as well as the co-founder of Newf Friends Newfoundland Dog Rescue I was in attendance with a few of my dogs, and several of my friends made the journey to Bancroft with their Newfs to help out for the day.

Peter Maniate of Hannibal Kennels in Lindsay is a co-founder of Newf Friends and he was in attendance with one of his Newfs, Gander Bear, who pulled a cart offering rides to children throughout the day.

Annabelle was also in attendance and she took turns giving cart rides to some of the spectators as well.

Fun was had by all and prizes we donated were given to the people who brought in the highest and second highest amount of pledges. It was a great day spent raising much needed funds for a great cause.

We've noticed a few leaves changing over the last week or so, and the temperature has started to drop. Fall is in the air.

With the arrival of cooler weather people's thoughts start turning towards the coming holiday season and getting a head start on Christmas shopping. Slowly but surely the snow is melting away and it is finally starting to feel like Spring. We're looking forward to the lakes opening up within the next few weeks, and the start of cottage season!

Our popular "pet" section is growing!

New arrivals this week include restocking of our top selling "Bling Bling Blinkers", the fabulous "Water Loopies" and the addition of a few new dog toys, including adorable "Humunga Tongue" and a line of environmentally friendly stuffed toys! Over the next few weeks we will be receiving our expanded line of Canadian made dog leashes, collars, harnesses and accessories.

We are also pleased to announce that we are now the exclusive retailers of Orijen dog food in the Bancroft area!

This product is marvellous, we have switched all of our dogs over to it, and are so impressed with this food that we have decided to carry it. Orijen is made in Canada of Canadian ingredients, is grain free, and contains 70% meat and 30% fruit/vegetables/botanicals - the way dogs' diets were meant to be. This biologically appropriate food doesn't contain cheap filler like corn or rice to bulk it up - it is all Canadian meat and produce. There is no other commercial dog food on the market that compares to the quality of this product. We are stocking 3 sizes of the adult dog food, and we are also carrying the Orijen cat food. Thank you so much to everyone who supported the Canadian Newfoundland Dog Rescue by purchasing one of these calendars. We are now nearly sold out of the second batch - only 2 calendars left in stock!

We did send a large shipment of calendars down to the rescue in Whitby the other day so they probably have a few remaining down there if you have not picked yours up yet. You can contact Denise at serediuk@sympatico.ca to inquire about their remaining inventory if you are still in need of one.

Saturday, Dec 1st was the Bancroft Christmas parade.......lots of fun for all...here's a few snapshots as the parade went past our door.....

The Boy Scouts sure had a great float again this year!

Those of you who shop in our store are probably familiar with the giant dogs that can often be found hanging out there with us. Our love of Newfoundland Dogs has lead us to become involved in Newfoundland Dog Rescue in a number of capacities.

Each year we put together a calendar featuring Sandra's photos of Newfoundland dogs and all of the proceeds from the sale of the calendar go to Newf Rescue Canada Inc. currently located in Whitby, Ontario.

The 2008 calendars will be ready to go early next week, and it's our best calendar yet! Calendars can be picked up in the store, or directly from the newf rescue, or ordered online at our website.
